Meet some of the people who have made the news in and around Lismore,

in County Waterford in Ireland in my newspaper column over the last year or two..

England or on this website over the last few months.


Congratulations to Chris Doran from Waterford,

Winner of the RTE. TV Eurostar competition.

Chris will go forward to represent Ireland in this

summer's Eurovision Song Contest in Turkey.

alias Dick Ahearne during today's store relaunch celebrations attended on Thursday

William G.Smith (Centre) with his wife Mary and their pet dog Daewoo over

in Queensland, Australia. On the left are his Great-Grandparents, Andrew

and Margaret (nee ahearne) Keily from Cappoquin,Co.Waterford in

Ireland and on the right is his grandmother Mary Anne Keily who

emigrated with her brother Andrew to Australia in 1892.

On the way her ship was shipwrecked off the African Coast

but they survived.

Waterford City as seen from Jury's Hotel last Saturday. Competitors in the 2 day World Power

Boat Championships can be see racing below. It was the first time such a race has been

held in Britain or Ireland and was won by Italy.


Well done to Kate Heneghan from Lismore. Camogie player Kate, who came first in the

Camogie Long Puck section of the Lismore Community Games held in May, then first in the

Waterford finals in July, winning a gold medal.

In August representing County Waterford, in the All Ireland ESB Community Games Finals,

held in Mosney, Co. Dublin, Kate won a silver medal after just been beaten into second

place by Galway. Kerry took the third place.
